#ClspTravels : Tokyo in between uni days

3:28 PM

Before i start, let me thank my dear friend @tamarafrhd who helped me to get this hash tag! <3 (oh and also she's the one who pushed me a lot to make this blog, she's literally the one)

Since my cous's wife is going to move back again to Indonesia, my family wanted to visit her and so we went to Japan, specifically Tokyo to look after her. But yes it's only the chit chat. The main purpose i can say is to travel and shop. I only have 4 days in Tokyo, so there are a lot of considerations before i went there because there was no tour guide and such thing who guide us ; in which a little bit different since my family always use travel services wherever we go. And the thing is, I'm the youngest between them so i have to arrange all the itinerary and transportation, and just literally everything. LEtttsss just start!

Anyway this is my planned itinerary (+address)

(well it doesn't goes well but at least i've prepared it right..)

Thursday
As i've mentioned before, there were only 4 days for me to explore Tokyo, that's because 2 of the other days were wasted on the plane. I went to Soetta at 6 am for my 9 am flight to Hong Kong. It takes about 6 hours duration. My activity on the plane was well, nothing but sleep.

After me and my family were arrived at HK airport, we directly look for a food court to sit and of course fill in our hungry tummy. Basic and on the safe zone, we only eat McDonalds. Then we looked around the shops since we have about 3 and a half hours before our next flight. I personally think this is my most enjoyable transit waiting among others i've visited. There are a lot of shops that i can step in to.

Looking at the watch, it's time for us to go to the gate. Anyway, if you're going to HK to transit just like me, don't be too relax while you wait. Because the gate is usually very far, you have to take train so don't let yourselves run in a hurry. There are a lot of people rushing while i was there aaaand i think that's because they didn't wonder it would be that far.

Long story shorten, 4 hours of waiting took me finally to Haneda! It's already 11 pm if i'm not mistaken so there's nothing to do beside going home. Oh well, not a home actually to our apartment. I booked airbnb and twas my first time using it. We took taxi as our transportation because it's kinda hectic if we use the subway

This was my airbnb room (pictures were taken from airbnb), i chose Minato-ku area because this place is very close to my cous's wife (ka Dhira).

Cleaning up all our stuffs and we good to bed after that

Friday
Woke up earlier because that's our first day. While on the itinerary i planned it to use taxis, my family wanted to try the public transportation first. So i was thinking about going with subway. I showed the way which was being helped by google maps. But i think i'm lost, so i told ka Dhira where to go and nice of her, she approached us directly. While we waited for her presence, there's this one spot sakura tree so we took pictures just to keep moments.

When ka Dhira arrived with her bicycle, she showed us the way and how to get to Tokyo Station. It's actually very easy by catching the bus near to us. All we have to do is pay inside the bus and wait until the last stop.

But the Tokyo Station itself is very busy, there are a lot of people walking. I have to go to Yaesu South Exit to get my reservation tickets. Luckily most of the people there can speak english so i got the map and i followed the way to go there. It was mhh, i can say a bit far from the drop off stop. As you can see on my itinerary i already have my booking code, that's because i've reserved my trip to go to Gotemba and again, ka Dhira helped me out by calling them.

We paid all the bills and it's snacking time before the big lunch. Nigiri and tokyo banana as our companion. Only wait for a couple of minutes, our bus was there and we were all sleeping on the whole 1 and a half hours.

Bad luck was when we arrived at Gotemba and it was r a i n i n g. How can i enjoy my shopping experience while the weather wasn't supporting? Hahah that's what inside my thoughts. Anyway if you don't know yet, Gotemba is one of the famous factory outlet in Japan that carries so many brands as you can see here .

We spent 5 hours there and it's already included the lunch time. Because we've finished before 5pm, i looked a chance if there's a possibility for us to go back earlier. Turns out i could make it so i head to Tokyo Station at 4.30pm

It's not comfortable for us to carry our bags if we still want to walk around, so we decided to take the bus and going back to our apartment first. We waited our bus at the place where it dropped us off, but suddenly there's this women who told us that the pick up and drop off stop is different, she took us to the pick up stop, another nice behave i received on that day

The next destination is Omotesando because one of my aunt was curious for the CDG Store. That was the first time we use subway. Only took few stops from my place to Omotesando, we walked upstairs to go out of the station. Anyway it was 8pm and unfortunately all the shops are closing. Like, literally there wasn't any shop that let us go in. So we decided to walk around Omotesando straight to Harajuku to adapt myself with the field and alleys

9pm and we were looking for a restaurant. A lot of queue in several places so we have to walked more to get into the direct sitting resto. I ate at hm i forgot the name and ate only beef toungue. From the restaurant, we went back home to unpacked our bags and tidy all of it

Saturday
Was very happy on this day because i gotta meet Adey! A friend of mine who's just moved to Japan for an exchange program. The planned was change from going to Kudanminami into Nakameguro. We took bus to got there and met Adey at the place. Nakameguro is basically a park but since it was sakura season, we got a chance to take pictures with the cherry blossoms. It was beautiful!

It took 2 hours for us taking pictures at nakameguro, after that we go to Shibuya by bus. From shibuya, we caught taxis to Omotesando. There are a looooot of boutiques in Omotesando, if you're looking for a complete high branded brands, this is the place you have to step in. From gucci, saint laurent, dior, chanel, CDG, Kenzo, pleats please, Alexander Mcqueen, into balenciaga and a lot i can't mention it one by one.

I chose to walk separately with Adey so we can see the shops that we're really interested. And there we go, first thing was going to the Macintosh because i need to bought a new charger. After that, i went to CDG Play Pop Up Store. There, they also got Chanel, Kenzo pop up store, and surprisingly also a MOMA Merchandise store.

There's an alley after this building that turns out where Opening Ceremony store was hiding. I can see Luke's Lobster long queueing line when i was about to go back meeting my family. At that time i was confused to not buying or to buy the famous one stop lobster sandwich place. Decision decision..

I'm already close to it, so i think why didn't i buy it. Adey accompanied me and while waiting we talked a lot so it didn't feel like waiting! Maybe it's about 30mins and i finally got into the cashier. I bought 7 luke's sandwich. The lobster, lobster + crab, and lobster + shrimp. My personal favorite is the Luke's Lobster (just lobster).

The bread was very delicious and i really can tasted the garlic. While the lobster is kinda sweet and of course fresh! For me this is a must try food in Tokyo, but not for a repeat-purchasing kinda of food.

Me and Adey continued to strolled around the street, then we go to an alley next to new balance that i really recommend you guys to visit. You can find chapter, fools judge, undefeated, supreme, aape, carhartt, also many vintage shops.

Our last stop for that day was Shibuya and Gyukatsu Motomura was the chosen dish to close the day. We went there by taxi but whatever the transportation is, you can't arrive exactly in front of the place. You need to walk a bit but it's not hard to find! At first, i queued the line with adey and my dad while the other were buying Tokyo Milk Cheese. After maybe 15mins, there was a servant who came to us and at Gyukatsu, there's no such thing as queueing for someone else. Also, we were asked what we wanted to eat, and i thought i could order 6 so the other can also taste the food but whoa, it's impossible haha. Ended up eating only with Adey and my mom (because my dad couldn't help but going home). Aaaand after 2 and a half hours of standing, we finally got the chance to eat the very famous Gyukatsu Motomura.

When i entered the place, i know now why it took so long to queue here. The place is literally very small, as simple as a bar with maybe 9 seats. Can you imagine how small is that while there are a lot of people curious with the food and yes, including me hahah. Okay, there's only one menu but the difference is only the grams (correct me if i'm wrong).

What's so special about Gyukatsu Motomura?
Personally for me, it's because we can cook the meat by ourselves, and when we cook it perfectly as the chosen preference, it will taste so damn good.

Sunday
Before going to an art exhibition, i went to Dumbo Donut which located not far from my place so that i could take a walk

I can't help looking at the pink vibes right there, IN LOVE with this small cute place. Not just that, after i tasted the donut (it comes with a big size) the love for Dumbo is increasing, haha it tasted very good!!!!

My kind of day because we started by going to the Tokyo National Art Center. It was raining and since we went there by subway, we had to walked and my first problem in Japan was : lost , i don't know why. After turning around, i finally found the place. It was huge.

Maybe some of you already know that Yayoi Kusama was having her exhibition and that's exactly why i'm thrilled. I had to queued for the ticket but it didn't take much time. Anyway i'm buying with a student card so my ticket's price was cheaper among the others.

I just can't wait to going in to the exhibition

They were  the first thing i saw on the exhibition, but when i turn to the right, i felt like i'm in another place. And the feeling was real

So there was this big room filled with Yayoi's painting. Each of it has the personal stories. There's one more place to enter inside the exhibition, filled with small paintings by her, and the room lead us to the well known Yayoi's signature on her exhibition ; the eternal soul. An insanely beautiful and creative place for me, it was very very small, filled with tiny lamps that changes colour every second but sadly it's prohibited to take pictures on the place

My eyes were already satisfied, more than enough. Next place to go is Shimokitazawa. I'm very excited about this because Shimo is a place to do thrift shopping! Thanks to Tita who told me about the place.

It was a bit far from Roppongi (Tokyo National Art Center) to Shimokitazawa so i spent time at the taxi but then i finally arrived in front of Freshness Burger, maybe a sign that i have to eat. So i stopped and munched the unexpected delicious burger

Then i went to the Shimokitazawa Department. Inside of the place, there are a lot of shops but there are no separator, it looks like as simple as pasar

I bought a long brown coat which price is only 600 Yen or about +- 70.000 rupiah, very cheap..there are a lot of small stuffs that you can't hold it but to buy, e.g ; earrings! The tips is to be patient

Aside from this store, i went to flamingo. One of the well known shop that have many interesting things to buy

Also many glasses which is worth to buy, my last stop at Shimokitazawa is Treasure Factory Style. This place is apart from the shops i've mentioned above, i used Google Maps to help me to get there, and finally

holy grail. The store carries on so many brands. APC, Acne, Stussy, Supreme, Neighbourhood, Dior, LV, Hermes, you name it. The store sells 2 types of things which are the new and the used ones. The price are all worth to buy for me. Anyway, they also sell unbranded stuffs which is very cheap. A must visit shop in Shimokitazawa I can say

I spent a lot of time at Shimo and then I went home. As my plan before, shake shack to end my day. All of my families were already tired so i went to shake shack alone by subway. It closes at 10pm meanwhile i started to walked at 9.10pm

I'm in rush, all i can do was only fast-walking. After i went out from Kitaaoyama station, it was already dark and i really really was confused which way to go. I was all alone at that time, it was very  queit, only several people were there, i can calculate it with even only with my hands. And then i looked to the clock, and it was ticking at 9.20-ish, i then greet a stranger and asked for directions. Seriously, she was very nice. She can't speak english, and so do i - i can't speak japanese but we both tried to communicate. She told me that she knew where's exactly the place and took me to the place. She even remember it closes at 10, she looked to the clock, and she suddenly run. I couldn't thank her enough for the kindness, while we were running, we still tried to communicate, until i can see the Shake Shack logo neon, that was where we split ourselves. I asked her to take picture with me so i have this precious moment in Japan

I continued my fast walking and then here i finally got the burger, with no queueing AT ALL

The smoke shack burger, the taste was good but just that good i have to say..phew

Monday
My last day in Tokyo was started by buying tokyo's souvenir close to my apartment which is the Tokyo Tower.

When we about to went home, we crossed a sakura park so we stopped by and take a lot of pictures there

Oh and there were also tulips!

Guess what, the next destination was...again, Shimokitazawa! Different with the previous day, i went to shimo in the daylight and i suggest you guys to go there on Sunday evening. The activity were all the same, looking around, walking, also eating. I met Adey again on this day!

Purikara/photobox in Japan is a must do for me! it was complicated yet funn

We went to harajuku again to make sure all the things we wanted to buy were already bought. Then, it's time to pack all the things!!! in which the laziest thing to do on travelling heheh. While i was packing, i remember that i haven't eat at Jumbo restaurant so i decided to went there with my mom because the other were busy pack their things!

It wasn't far from my place, i went there by bus and the stop was close to the restaurant. I was excited even i haven't tasted it at that time!!

There was this place for the waiting list customer, luckily i didn't queue at all!!! While normally i should have been reserve and make a booking by phone, i could go inside easily. I ordered the Nohara-yaki (sirloin with raw egg), fillet, superior cut of beef tongue, kalbi, and one more i forgot. Lettuce to accompany the main superb meats!

I gotta say that Jumbo is the higlight of my Tokyo trip!! (aside from Shimokitazawa). Seriously this place is really, really, reallllllyy recommended to go! All the meats are juicy and the taste are all very damn delicious. Melted inside the mouth (no joking). Well for the price it's kinda pricey, it cost me and my mom about maybe 18.000 yen or about 2 million but really, its all worth it!

Tuesday
I don't have much time on this day, only taking picture before i went to the airport with kak Dhira

TIPS : Japanese people are mostly nice and helpful, bring a small keychain/other signature souvenir and give it to them when they help you! Because i regret i can't give anything to several people that help me out in Japan. Also, buy Pasmo card on the station. It's useful for the transportation and could also be use for shopping in seven eleven.

See you on the next trip!
