Fashion : Tips on Thrifting

12:42 PM

Yes i do thrifting too! Well, it's just twice but let me share few tips for you to do a success thrifting

1. Taking shower is unnecessary
The more you look fresh, the more they will be sceptical on you. Just be kumel

2. Bring a lot of changes

When you bargain you should be ready of the price that stated by yourself. Because, when you push the price lower, they will expect you to pay with the exact number. It doesn't mean you can't bring Rp.50.000 and Rp.100.000, but it's better for you to bring the smaller amount because it will ease both of the seller and you the buyer

3. Mineral water is needed!
Carry a bottle of water from your home! Trust me, it'll be tiring and you need water to at least safe you from hunger. A snack would be also great

4. BE PATIENT
I know you'll be seeing many high fashion brands at the place. But please, be patient. There are a lot of shops there, they sometime sell same things with different price. Or maybe, you find something that really fits your style - you're excited. Do not show the expression to the seller; it will make them increase the price in a sudden.

5. Don't make any other appointments on that day
So that you'll not in a hurry. This factor connects with the previous one. I really suggest you to turn around and remember what things you already like. Don't be crazy, don't be laper mata. Save your money to the things you need and want the most. After going around all of the corner and alley, you can finally bargain and purchase all things you wanted to buy!

6. Do not dress up
What to wear? Deftly t shirt, legging and sandal will be a comfortable for you to shop.

Wear something that have pockets so you can put your money on them instead of carrying a bag. But if you want to bring it, a plain tote bag will be fine

7. Keep bargaining
I know at first it sounds really cheap, BUT don't get influenced by that. Because good thing is, you still can push the price! Except for those things with a fixed price shown above the clothes. Another tips, if you're forcing the seller to give you the prices you wanted is by ask the shopper to put all your things in a plastic, bargain with the lowest place, give the money, and just leave. *I've done this before. At last, they were sincered

Now about the place, let me mention the super famous market for thrifting. In Jakarta it will be Pasar Senen, and in Bandung it will be Gedebage. Both of 'em are great but they have different types of clothes & brands. You'll find it easier to look for good things in Gedebage instead of Pasar Senen. But sometime, what's fun from thrifting is looking for the right stuff to choose, isn't it? The seller in gedebage are also nicer and easier to give us lower price.

For the place itself, pasar senen have 2 buildings and several floors that you should explore one by one. While gedebage only have 1 building, 1 floor, and a lot of random shop at the edge of the street. I recommend going to both of the place on Saturday. Don't be too early because not every shops are open in the morning. Starting at 9 am from home is a perfect time.

++Bring your guy friend is kinda needed to protect you or maybe ditemenin sama yang udah perah kesana would make you feel  easier!

G'luck!
